It should be automatic. Maybe someone in the organization has to notice and award the promotion manually. I don't know, but I really don't think so. I never had to do anything. Just keep looking for questions where you know the answers, and post the answers.

Your answer has to be solid so that you could get brainliest answers with more points. And it really depends on the points the question has. So that means you get points by answering questions. ALSO, if you are a moderator, you get points for moderating so that could make you get enough points, I believe ;D
